Thessaloniki – June 2017
Together with our coproduction partner Heimathafen Neukölln / Berlin, we apply for co-production at the Goethe-Institut, for a guest performance of the production SELAM HABIBI in June 2017.
Volksbühne Basel to Selam Habibi
Selam Habibi will be the prelude of the WOWEN THEATER PROJECT in Thessaloniki, with three actors from a shelter for unaccompanied refugees, designed as opening and first contact / contact with professional theater and cultural exchange. The piece is to be worked out and shown in June on the spot. The place and the first contact in Thessaloniki is a home for unaccompanied refugees, so we will start here and also work out the presentation. Subsequently, the workshops will also be launched within the four pillars of the WTP, but as in Athens in other structures as well as with other target groups. The project is also open for all ages and backgrounds.
Selam Habibi’s dramaturgical charm is that only half of the six-man ensemble can go to the respective guest performance. The other three roles are taken over by local people. Thus, Selam Habibi is a mixture of guest game and new production and “new” on every station.
